I would like to see more women and more people of color in positions of leadership in our country. I think having different perspectives, from people with different experiences, not only helps individuals grow personally, but helps our society reduce conflict and injustice through a broader understanding.
For my act of good today, I put two images together, no Photoshopping, of Minnesota Gov. Dayton signing a bill, and of President Trump signing a bill. No comment or caption necessary.
I wrote recently about how women are literally discriminated against to death throughout the world, with girls not getting the same opportunities (even to survive) as boys/men. And I wrote about how Minnesota elected the first Muslim woman, Ilhan Omar, to any state legislature in the nation.
I’m not going to write a speech here about the importance of diversity, except to say, quite simply, that white men have been running shit for a long, long while, and it’s time to give everyone a seat at that table and enter into what is, and must be, a global community—if we are all going to survive as a species.
Make a pledge to do good.
